Boyfriend Jeans

Hello everyone! Happy Tuesday :)
So today my outfit (which you can also see on my Twitter and Instagram pages! Follow @theverbtopretty) consists of 7 for All Mankind destroyed boyfriend jeans, an oversized white tee which I tucked into the front of the jeans, a grey bead, chain, and velvet necklace (Forever 21) and black floral oxfords (Qupid; ModCloth)

So the concept here today: boyfriend jeans, a huuuge trend right now, with an oversized tee (or even tank!) tucked in only in the front, classic shoes with a print if your shirt is solid and to make it just a little bit more girly, an edgy necklace. And with the necklace, depending on the other colors in your outfit, it can be a pop color or a neutral, like mine. Also a coordinating belt would add a nice touch (I would have worn one... But I don't have one that matches that is for my hips. Ha!)

Outfit of the day!

So I managed to get a pic real fast before leaving for church.
You guys! It's cloudy! It might rain (20% chance.... Ha ha)! It's only 76 degrees! I'm liking the second day of fall here.
And to celebrate... A fall-inspired outfit! Today I'm wearing mustard colored jeans (Forever 21), a navy Peter Pan collared shirt (Frenchi; Nordstrom), and some burlap and leather skimmers (JC Penney).
So take the concept or the whole outfit! The concept: fall colored denim (look at the leaves: mauve, wine, mustard, red, burnt orange) and pair with a timeless, solid, neutral blouse and some vintage-style (or actual vintage for some charm!) flats or even heels.

Happy second day of fall! :)

PS pardon the flash... :)

I'm Back!! Outfit of the day

Hey everyone! So I'm back. I got my new phone and I'm pleased to see that there is a Blogger app :D

Here is my outfit of the day. This is my go-to casual outfit for warm weather. And yes I know it's the first day of fall but it is still warm where I live!

So we have a pea green 8000 Nerves graphic tee (ModCloth), royal blue Vigoss shorts (Nordstrom), and black braided sandals (PacSun). I looove this color combination of pea green and royal blue. It's very summery but still kind of toned down. And since there's so much color on top, I went with a simple neutral shoe. So the overall concept is colorblock on top but tie it together with a neutral shoe and accessories. :)

Happy first day of fall!!

turning summer into autumn

I know I'm being a total dork about blogging... But it's just so much fun!! Anyways, here is my first real post!!

How to make your summer clothes work in the fall! I will give you four summery clothing items and tell you how to pair them with the right things to fit right into the new season.

First up, the simple sundress.
Now, there are many different colors, shapes, details, and cuts for the simple sundress. But most have two things in common: they're short and they have short sleeves or no sleeve (I wouldn't suggest wearing strapless in autumn, but that's your call.)
In the picture below, we see that the model has paired her simple sundress with colored tights, basic black heels, and an adorable blazer (I have a thing for blazers ♥♥♥) She also has a DARK handbag. In the spring or summer, she might use a lighter one, like the lavender-ish color of her belt, but in fall, darker colors are ESSENTIAL!!

 Next is the nautical tee:
The whole nautical trend(which I also love) kind of popped up out of nowhere this late spring/summer. I love the pairing of this red-and-white striped tee with a neutral moto jacket, a simple scarf, and equestrian boots. However, I am not fond of the jewelry choice in this outfit. I prefer nautical-inspired outfits to be accented with silvers or a rubbed bronze.

Third, the basic tee:

An essential for every season, the basic short-sleeved tee is a very versatile piece. In the outfit below, the model is shown wearing a grey basic tee, grey ankle skinnies, coral loafers, and a small, black quilted handbag. All of which I love! BUT, since it is going to be autumn, this monochromatic outfit would look absolutely perfect with a black peacoat or moto jacket.

And, finally, we have the a-line skirt:
In the summer or spring, you may wear a shorter a-line skirt and maybe a short-sleeved or sleeveless blouse.
In the picture, you can see that the outfit is almost perfect for fall. All that is missing is a plum cardigan and some tights of the same color. So, all in all, pair your a-line skirts with simple blouses, cardigans, and tights for an elegant look this fall.

That's all for today! Thanks for reading! :)

okay, second one in one day. je suis desole.

All right. Now, WHO IS READY FOR AUTUMN?? I personally detest summer. It should just be replaced by an extended spring/autumn in my opinion. I mean, heat!! I don't like heat unless it's coming from a fireplace or a heater (My house was built in the 50s--love!!!--so it has all these vintage little details. One is an old heater that is on both sides of the wall between my odd, narrow, rectangular living room and similar hallway.)
I am looking forward to autumn because:
    1. autumn fashion! sweaters, boots, outerwear, and long pants galore.
    2. cool weather. COOL WEATHER. no more of these darn heatwaves and wildfires and ceiling fans and air conditioners.
    3. who doesn't love autumn colors? the colors of the leaves, the clothes... ahh. c:

  That is all. Bon soir!

bonjour.

Well, welcome to my blog! I've been wanting to start a blog for a while. It just seems fun. So here I am.
When I get a new phone (whenever that will be...--but that story is for another time.), I'll post pics of my outfits most days. Because fashion is... What is fashion to you? Fashion to me is.. a way to express yourself. Yeah, I know, lame answer. That's the same answer I gave when asked what creative writing was. Man, did I get showed up on that one. I ended up dropping that class. ANYWAYS...
I'll also try to post recipes because, being a Southern-derived girl, I love to cook and I love to eat. Ha ha!

Thanks for reading my blog! I'll try to update it as often as I can and I hope you'll follow it!
